About The Position

This is a seasonal position for the Harvest Season. The Sample Taker is responsible for collecting samples from various points in the Mill to be tested in the Technical Department. This role also involves cleaning tasks within the Technical Department and assisting with inventory management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with basic skill set levels.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend instructions.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
• Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
• Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.
• Prolonged periods of standing.
• Capable of climbing stairs numerous times during the shift.
• Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces).
• Must be able to carry and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual and Biliterate – English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Collect various cane juice, molasses, mill mud, raw sugar, bagasse, and other samples on a rotational timed schedule for laboratory testing.
• Clean sample containers and receptacles.
• Assist in maintaining the inventory of reagents, chemicals, and supplies needed for analyses.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Perform other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
