About The Position

The Sample Specialist is responsible for ensuring pending sample requests meet customers' timelines and expectations, as well as reviewing and recommending other products that might be of interest for customer application. This position manages a large inventory of re-packaged fruit products and ensures an ample supply of packaging containers, supplies, technical/regulatory documents, and promotional materials. In addition, the position tracks sample activity and provides reports to appropriate stakeholders.

Requirements

  • General understanding of Food Safety and GMP's for re-packaging food.
  • Principles and practices of inventory management, especially as it pertains to food.
  • Knowledge of sample containers for shipping different types of product development samples without compromising food quality or safety.
  • Knowledge of shipping methods and proper documentation that accompany all domestic and international sample shipments.
  • Principles and practices of basic accounting, mathematics and scientific weights and measurements.
  • Ability to make independent judgements regarding suitability of best product for customer application.
  • Ability to act as an internal resource providing informal guidance to colleagues, peers and less experienced individuals.
  • Ability to gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.
  • Ability to work autonomously without supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to professionally interact with internal and external customers and peers.
  • Ability to identify, research, and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, provide recommendations, and project consequences of proposed actions/recommendations.
  • Ability to suggest improvements to existing processes in order to improve efficiency.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to obtain a pallet jack stacker certification and use a pallet jack stacker.
  • Ability to use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Meet behaviors established in Tree Top's performance management and development process.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field is preferred.
