We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Receiving Technician to join our environmental lab team in Conroe, TX. In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous work experience in data entry, administrative, clerical, sample handling, or laboratory support roles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other basic computer applications

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred
  • LIMS experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff
  • Check samples for proper condition, labeling, preservation, and documentation
  • Review chain-of-custody paperwork and identify missing or incorrect information
  • Enter sample details, testing requests, and other information into LIMS
  • Label, organize, and route samples to the correct laboratory departments
  • Keep track of where samples are, where they need to go, and when they need to get there
  • Maintain organized sample storage areas and handle sample retrieval and disposal
  • Prepare sample kits, containers, and supplies for field teams and clients
  • Prepare and coordinate outbound sample shipments
  • Help manage inventory and keep laboratory supplies stocked and ready
  • Work closely with laboratory teams to help keep sample flow moving efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records and follow laboratory quality, safety, and compliance procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
