About The Position

This role involves receiving, inspecting, and verifying incoming samples, logging them into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and ensuring proper identification and traceability. The technician will communicate with clients and internal teams regarding sample discrepancies, prepare and distribute samples to laboratory departments, and maintain sample storage conditions. Responsibilities also include shipping samples for external analysis, driving a company vehicle for sample pickup/drop-off, preparing sampling kits, and assisting with general laboratory housekeeping and inventory management. Strict adherence to safety, quality control, and chain-of-custody procedures is required. The position may involve occasional overtime and requires working with laboratory chemicals.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent Required
  • No experience required, unless required by state law Required
  • Intermediate English Required (Advanced Preferred)
  • Basic Mathematical Skills Required (Intermediate Preferred)
  • Intermediate Reasoning Skills/Abilities, uses logical and practical approach to solve problems Required
  • Ability to effectively communicate (in writing or verbally), presenting information individually or in small group situations to internal or external customers Required
  • Ability to follow directions ensuring the end results are accurate and completed with the required timeframe Required
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Required

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming samples against accompanying documentation.
  • Log samples and relevant sample details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Assign and apply proper identification labels on samples and paperwork to maintain traceability.
  • Communicate with clients or internal teams regarding sample discrepancies or missing information.
  • Prepare and distribute samples to the appropriate laboratory departments.
  • Communicate with the lab departments and management to properly prioritize samples.
  • Maintain sample storage conditions (e.g., refrigeration) according to requirements.
  • Ship samples for external analysis with completed sample analysis instructions.
  • Drive company vehicle to pick up and drop off samples, as required.
  • Prepare sampling kits and stock sample bottles.
  • Assist with general laboratory housekeeping and inventory management.
  • Follow strict safety, quality control, and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
