About The Position

Our Company Dominion Diagnostics is the premier provider of comprehensive clinical quantitative urine and blood drug testing, medication monitoring, and support services nationwide. Serving hundreds of clients in a variety of medical specialties, we provide actionable information to improve patient care and medical outcomes in the treatment of Chronic Pain and Addiction Medicine. This entry-level position is for a Sample Preparation Scientist in a CAP-Accredited high-throughput clinical toxicology laboratory. The SPS is responsible for the preparation of urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation testing using LC-MS/MS technology. Duties include organizing and processing samples for batched assay testing using robotic liquid handling instrumentation, preparing patient sample dilutions, and submitting batches to LC-MS/MS instrumentation. The SPS may also prepare reagents as needed used during the shift.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s in Biological Science or Chemical Science: Transcripts subject to review.
• Excellent laboratory skills and analytical mindset
• Strict attention to detail and quality procedures
• Strong organizational skills
• Commitment to both our clients and their patients to provide the most accurate test results possible, in a timely fashion
• Ability to stand for periods of time
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers
• Ensures proper handling of patient samples.
• Basic LCMS instrument operations
• Maintains a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting.
• Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices.
• Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs and laboratory records.
• Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS.
• Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed.
• Assists in training new employees
• Prepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory’s documented standard operating procedures.
• Follows all safety, HIPAA and regulatory compliance standards
