About The Position

Dominion Diagnostics is seeking a Sample Preparation Scientist (SPS) for a CAP-Accredited high-throughput clinical toxicology laboratory. This entry-level position involves preparing urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation testing using LC-MS/MS technology. Responsibilities include organizing and processing samples for batched assay testing with robotic liquid handling instrumentation, preparing patient sample dilutions, and submitting batches to LC-MS/MS instrumentation. The SPS may also prepare reagents during their shift.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s in Biological Science or Chemical Science: Transcripts subject to review.
  • Excellent laboratory skills and analytical mindset

Responsibilities

  • Prepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers
  • Ensures proper handling of patient samples.
  • Basic LCMS instrument operations
  • Maintains a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting.
  • Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs and laboratory records.
  • Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS.
  • Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed.
  • Assists in training new employees
  • Prepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory’s documented standard operating procedures.
