About The Position

SGS is seeking a Sample Management Technician to join their team in Maine. The primary role of this position is to accurately enter sample IDs and required tests from chains of custody (COCs) into the LIMS system. The technician will be responsible for receiving and documenting samples and COCs, ensuring the integrity of all aspects of sample receipt. This role reports to the Sample Management Manager.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Advanced English language skills
Strong math and reasoning skills
Strong customer service skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to lift/carry/push or pull upwards of 50 lbs on a constant basis

Nice To Haves

Experience in an environmental laboratory
Associate degree in a science-related field

Responsibilities

Enter sample IDs and required tests from chains of custody (COCs) into LIMS.
Receive and document samples and chains of custody (COCs).
Check the integrity of all aspects of the sample receipt.
Receive sample coolers and containers and document their receipt.
Open and check sample containers for adequate preservation (aqueous samples only).
Create bottle records, generate bottle labels, and label samples.
Transfer samples to and from cold or ambient storage areas.
Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and clarity.
Remove historical samples from completed jobs and assign samples for disposal.
Provide communications regarding sample information to laboratory departments.
Communicate with clients regarding requests.
Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Answer telephone inquiries or requests for bottleware, volumes, and courier pickups.
Perform other duties as assigned.
