About The Position

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Sample Coordinator for the second shift (4:30 PM - 1 AM) to join their PPD® Laboratory Services team. This role plays a crucial part in supporting laboratory operations by handling samples and standards, ensuring accuracy and quality in the process. The Sample Coordinator will work in a regulated environment, potentially in sub-frozen conditions, and will be responsible for various sample handling tasks, communicating sample status, and assisting laboratory staff with procedures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • Previous experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory flow and control.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and regulatory requirements (documentation, sample storage).
  • Ability to write/review SOPs and process improvement outlines.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective time management and project management skills.
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of sample and standard tasks including receipt, check-in, login, labeling, launching, inventory, transport, check-out, and physical return and disposal of materials.
  • Communicate the status of samples and standards to appropriate laboratory staff.
  • Guide and advise laboratory staff on sample and standard procedures.
  • Complete investigation and deviation forms as necessary and determine appropriate CAPAs.
  • Review and provide feedback on laboratory requests, ensuring compliance with applicable SOPs.
  • Train on SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and storage requirements.
  • Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities.
  • Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely.
