About The Position

For over 40 years, AHCS has been the primary public behavioral healthcare provider in the Alleghany Highlands area, offering services to adults and children with challenges related to mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities. As the Same Day Access Supervisor, you will lead daily operations for AHCS’s access, screening, and assessment pathway so individuals and families can enter mental health and substance use disorder services without unnecessary delay. You will provide clinical and administrative supervision, manage staffing and workflow, and ensure documentation quality and timeliness. Key responsibilities include overseeing comprehensive needs assessments, eligibility determinations, orientations, initial service planning, referrals, and linkage to internal programs and community resources; monitoring performance outcomes and access barriers; coordinating with front office, emergency services, billing, and quality improvement; and ensuring compliance with AHCS policy, DBHDS licensure, DMAS requirements, Step-VA expectations, and funding rules. Requirements

  • LPC or LCSW (required)
  • Valid Driver's License (required)
  • Must obtain certification as a Virginia Certified Prescreener through the DBHDS (required)

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations for AHCS’s access, screening, and assessment pathway.
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision.
  • Manage staffing and workflow.
  • Ensure documentation quality and timeliness.
  • Oversee comprehensive needs assessments, eligibility determinations, orientations, initial service planning, referrals, and linkage to internal programs and community resources.
  • Monitor performance outcomes and access barriers.
  • Coordinate with front office, emergency services, billing, and quality improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with AHCS policy, DBHDS licensure, DMAS requirements, Step-VA expectations, and funding rules.
  • Review access volume, open items in the EHR, and staffing coverage.
  • Touch base with the front office and clinical teams to resolve scheduling or intake bottlenecks.
  • Consult with staff on complex presentations and documentation questions.
  • Track timeliness metrics.
  • Follow up on pending referrals and community coordination.
  • Partner with billing and quality staff to address compliance or data issues.
  • Ensure immediate action through established procedures and appropriate crisis connections when urgent safety concerns surface.
  • Confirm next-day readiness and document key operational decisions.
