About The Position

A yard parts puller is responsible for identifying, locating, and removing automotive parts from damaged or salvaged vehicles. The employee plays a critical role in the auto salvage industry by providing quality parts for repairs, ensuring efficient inventory management, and delivering excellent customer service. The parts puller's efficiency in extracting parts in a timely manner helps build customer loyalty and contributes to the organization's reputation for reliability and excellent customer service, which contributes to the organization's financial success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to drive yard vehicles.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
  • Ability to properly use hand and power tools to disassemble vehicles and remove parts.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be able to work effectively alone or with others in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Must be a self-starter with the demonstrated ability to meet timelines and schedules related to essential functions.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to ambulate throughout the facility and salvage yard for most of the workday.
  • Must be able to continuously work outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).
  • Must be able to operate equipment and yard vehicles frequently.
  • Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to operate basic hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry objects and materials up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of automotive repair or mechanical experience preferred.
  • Forklift Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and remove parts from vehicles using tools.
  • Inspect parts for quality before removal to ensure they are in good condition and meet quality standards.
  • Clean parts using water and soap or solvents/degreasers, depending on site policies.
  • Communicate with the sales team about any damaged parts found, providing details on the part and the damage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard and work environment, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Operate heavy equipment to reposition vehicles for better access to parts, depending on site policies.
  • Assist customers who are looking for specific parts.
  • Utilize expertise in operating heavy equipment to safely move vehicles and parts.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly inspected and follow proper lifting and handling techniques to prevent injuries.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any issues to their supervisor.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned
