The Salty Processing Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation of processing machinery. This role involves operating processing equipment to produce product within established quality guidelines, accurately mixing ingredients, monitoring temperatures and moisture levels, and making necessary adjustments. The operator will also be responsible for equipment shutdown, changeovers, and preventative maintenance, as well as communicating quality issues to the appropriate team members. Reading and understanding batch sheets, following recipes, and accurately weighing raw materials are key aspects of this position. The operator will monitor and log critical process data, check for foreign matter, and follow strict sanitation procedures for cleanups and changeovers, including chemical handling. Waste tracking and disposal, moving raw ingredients using material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack), and maintaining raw material levels are also essential duties. The role includes managing inventory usage and disposal of cutter blades, ensuring Urschel Heads run efficiently, and testing, treating, and maintaining oil levels in processing equipment. A thorough understanding of the heat exchanger system is required. If applicable, the operator will monitor and adjust seasoning coverage. Adherence to safety and hygiene guidelines, including housekeeping (5S) and personal protection, is mandatory. This includes keeping the work area clean, storing supplies properly, maintaining clear aisles and exits, removing trash, following safe lifting procedures, identifying/reporting defective equipment, and reporting all job-related injuries. Mandatory overtime may be required, and other duties may be performed as needed.
