About The Position

The Salon Sales and Education Trainer is responsible for driving sales growth by providing exceptional training, education, and support to store teams. This role combines sales strategy, product and service education, and team motivation to ensure the success of the JCPENNEY Salon. The role requires up to 80% travel and weekend shifts, with a minimum of 4 days per week in stores and 1 office day per week. The trainer will establish and develop strong partnerships within the store organization, including Beauty and Salon Teams, GM, DM, Pro Team, and Field Manager, to influence participation and positive sales outcomes. The position also involves managing controllable expenses for travel and training supplies, completing all reporting in a timely manner, developing a bi-monthly call cycle/calendar for the territory, and communicating monthly with all stores to review objectives versus performance.

Requirements

  • Licensed Cosmetologist with strong technical and artistic expertise.
  • Up to 80% travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals for assigned stores and all new launch product/service sales goals.
  • Identify growth opportunities and propose initiatives to drive revenue.
  • Develop and oversee focus door and business driving strategies for assigned stores.
  • Manage weekly and monthly business recaps of territory to highlight sales and training opportunities.
  • Review targeted sales reports in conjunction with training plans to identify coaching/mentoring opportunities and create store-specific action plans.
  • Complete and distribute the Sales & Education Trainer Recap form after each store visit.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews of business results and team performance with the Sr Sales and Education Trainer.
  • Deliver all Salon in-store training and education with a strategic and localized approach.
  • Understand and articulate all Salon strategies, initiatives, and direction for the overall business.
  • Review and evaluate participant skill development during training and make additional training recommendations.
  • Coach and develop people using a distance learning model, deliver technical skills, workshops, and facilitate classes for associates.
  • Inspire staff to continue growing training initiatives for Return on Investment.
  • Ensure all selling staff can understand and simply explain technical aspects of the brand to customers.
  • Stay up-to-date with salon and service trends, styles through social media, industry publications, and communications.
  • Participate in on-going technical skills development through company and vendor-provided training and skill practice.
  • Ensure store consistency around core operational standards, visual merchandising standards, set execution, and brand launches.
  • Lead Salon Managers to effectively execute all business-related strategies including customer experience, selling protocols and productivity, merchandise presentation, operational process, and event execution.
  • Manage and oversee all brand launch events and designated brand events through education and planning with the store team, achieving event goal plans across the territory.
  • Provide sales support during events.
  • Plan and manage masterclass events to drive awareness, excitement, and sales.
  • Manage workshop environment to ensure a quality learning experience.
  • Partner with store GM and Beauty Field Manager on any staffing needs and provide feedback on staffing issues.
  • Listen, respond, and act upon associate concerns in a timely manner and collaborate with appropriate leaders and partners.
  • Complete all reporting in a timely manner (expenses, sales reports, training recaps, etc.).
  • Develop call cycle/calendar 2x month for the entire territory including Beauty Manager/Supervisor and share access to visit schedules with Store General Manager.
  • Communicate at least once monthly with all stores within territory to review objectives vs. performance.
