About The Position

Run the floor of an established children’s salon with real autonomy, a present and invested owner as your partner, and earnings that go well beyond base pay. This is a hands-on manager role at a growing kids’ salon with a built-in client base from day one, a clear schedule, and a compensation model built around the work you do behind the chair. You are the first person a family sees when they walk in, and the person who keeps everything behind the door running the way it should. Sit Still Kids Salon is a franchise brand built around making the salon experience genuinely enjoyable for kids and their families. The Smithfield location is part of a growing two-salon Rhode Island franchise, owned and actively operated by an owner who is present, invested, and serious about building a team that stays. You will have real autonomy on the floor, a clear partnership with ownership, and an established client base from day one.

Requirements

  • Active Rhode Island cosmetology license. Rhode Island law requires the salon manager to hold a cosmetology license; barber and esthetician licenses do not qualify for this role.
  • At least 2 years of professional salon experience, with confident clipper-cut proficiency across all hair types.
  • Saturday availability every week, plus every-other Sunday to start.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or senior-stylist experience in a high-volume salon
  • Familiarity with kids’ or family clientele

Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day salon operations in partnership with the owner: scheduling, floor coverage, opening and closing procedures.
  • Stay behind the chair about 25 hours a week, delivering clipper cuts and full-range styling across all hair types.
  • Lead and develop the stylist team through training, accountability, and professional development.
  • Create a calm, consistent guest experience that keeps families coming back.

Benefits

  • Base salary: $45,000 to $52,000 per year.
  • Tips: typically $250 or more per week at target chair hours.
  • Performance bonus: up to $1,000 per month when the salon hits revenue targets.
  • Product commission: 10% on retail product.
