About The Position

The Salon Business Consultant is a consulting and relationship-building specialist role responsible for covering and growing a territory in and around Newburgh, IN, Mt Vernon, Owensboro KY, and Evansville IN. The ideal candidate would reside in or very near Evansville, IN, or Owensboro, KY. This is a full-time career opportunity with uncapped commission, a vehicle reimbursement plan, and full benefits. Experience in the salon/beauty industry is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year demonstrated outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with an emphasis on consultative selling.
  • Must live within the assigned territory.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms to build pipelines and books of business.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle.
  • Ability to build an online community and create social connections using search engines and other internet tools.
  • This position requires travel on a local level within the territory.
  • Requires attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events which may include overnight travel and/or some weekend nights.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Frequent and sometimes prolonged periods of driving are necessary for this role.
  • Committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs.
  • Strong time management and organization skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to present a professional business image and interact positively with the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with iPad a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify key accounts within territory and establish an efficient route to grow and develop existing customers while seeking new partnerships.
  • Demonstrate and assist customers in planning, implementing, and tracking in-salon promotions, programs, and concepts.
  • Determine customer needs and offer appropriate products and services.
  • Communicate sales initiatives and achieve corporate sales goals monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Respond to all email, text, and phone communication within 24 hours.
  • Analyze accounts to determine necessary brand support, education, and promotions.
  • Call on customers in person to execute sales goals.
  • Process returns, including pick-up and required documentation.
  • Work with various business functions such as customer service, accounts receivable, and IT.
  • Actively prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets.
  • Manage administrative aspects of the role, including daily order entry and maintaining customer information in salesforce.com.
  • Utilize social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge to attract and retain salon clientele.
  • Conduct effective in-person and virtual product knowledge classes.
  • Communicate with the Manager regarding calls, visits, orders, sales progress, and assistance needed.
  • Be a subject matter expert on digital platforms and social media for business growth, sharing knowledge with peers.
  • Attend all meetings, functions, and events, maintaining regular contact as established by the Company or Supervisor.
  • Be available to attend shows, participate in display setup/dismantling, handle back stock, and perform other required physical activities.
  • Support new initiatives with a growth mindset and foster change management.
  • Exhibit a desire for continuous learning and personal development, focusing on digital and social media techniques.
  • Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and develop vendor relationships.
  • Optimize time to participate in learning using available tools and resources.
  • Remain agile to market changes, building industry knowledge to react to a competitive market.
  • Actively increase product, industry, and market knowledge.
  • Create an organized work environment and workflow for efficient customer service.
