About The Position

The Salon Business Consultant is a consulting and relationship-building specialist responsible for covering and growing an assigned territory in and around Birmingham, Gardendale, Fultondale, and Mountain Brook, Alabama. This full-time career opportunity offers uncapped commission, a vehicle reimbursement plan, and full benefits. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on growing salon sales through manufacturer education, sales resources, opening new doors, and introducing new products and concepts. Active use of social media is expected to serve salons, barbers, spas, schools, and licensed beauty professionals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of (1) year demonstrated outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with emphasis on consultative selling.
  • Must live within the assigned territory.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social media platforms to build pipelines, books of business, and other business needs.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle.
  • Ability to build an online community and create social connections, including using search engines and other internet tools.
  • This position requires travel on a local level within the territory.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
  • Frequent and sometimes prolonged periods of driving are necessary for this role.
  • Committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs.
  • Strong time management and organization skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to present a professional business image and interact positively with the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with iPad a plus.
  • Attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events which may include overnight travel and/or some weekend nights.

Responsibilities

  • Identify key accounts within the territory and establish an efficient route for growing existing customers and finding new partnerships.
  • Demonstrate and assist customers in developing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and tracking results of in-salon promotions, programs, and concepts.
  • Determine customer needs and offer appropriate products and services.
  • Communicate sales initiatives by partnering with vendors and achieving corporate sales goals.
  • Respond to all email, text, and phone communication within 24 hours.
  • Analyze accounts to determine necessary brand support, education, and promotions for growth.
  • Conduct in-person customer visits to execute sales goals.
  • Process returns strictly according to established procedures, including picking up returns and completing required documents.
  • Complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with customer service, accounts receivable, IT, and other necessary business functions.
  • Actively prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets.
  • Manage administrative aspects of the role, including daily order entry and maintaining customer information and activity in salesforce.com.
  • Attract and retain salon clientele using social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge.
  • Conduct effective in-person and virtual product knowledge classes.
  • Communicate with the Manager regarding calls, visits, orders, sales progress, follow-up plans, and assistance needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on using digital platforms and social media to grow business, sharing knowledge with peers.
  • Attend all meetings, functions, and events, maintaining regular contact as established by the Company or Supervisor.
  • Be available to attend shows, participate in display setup and dismantling, handle back stock, and perform other required physical activities.
  • Support new initiatives with a growth mindset and foster positive change management.
  • Exhibit a desire for continuous learning and personal development, growing digital and social media techniques.
  • Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and develop vendor relationships.
  • Optimize time to participate in learning using available tools and resources.
  • Remain agile to market changes, building industry knowledge and intuition to react to a competitive market.
  • Actively work to increase personal product, industry, and market knowledge.
  • Create an organized work environment and workflow for efficient customer service.
