About The Position

Niyam is seeking an experienced Salesforce Release Manager for one of our federal clients. The Release Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of Salesforce application releases across multiple development teams supporting federal clients. This role ensures that new features, enhancements, and fixes are delivered securely, reliably, and in alignment with federal governance standards. The Release Manager works closely with developers, admins, product owners, and government stakeholders to maintain a predictable and well‑controlled release pipeline. This position will be hybrid to Ashburn, VA. This position is for an upcoming proposal.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship with ability to successfully complete a federal background investigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in release management, configuration management, DevOps, or Salesforce administration.
  • Hands‑on experience with Salesforce deployments, metadata management, and environment strategy.
  • Strong experience with Salesforce deployment tools such as Change Sets, DevOps Center, Gearset, Copado, or Metadata API‑based pipelines.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) including branching strategies and code management best practices.
  • Proven experience coordinating release schedules across multiple teams, including Agile/Scrum teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and supporting automation for build and deployment processes.
  • Strong understanding of environment management, including sandbox strategy, refresh cycles, and data seeding.
  • Experience coordinating testing efforts, including regression testing and UAT validation processes.
  • Familiarity with federal change management processes, including CAB reviews, approvals, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience with risk and issue management related to software releases.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear release status updates and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Experience working in regulated or federal environments with compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, ATO processes).

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, or DevOps-related certifications).
  • Experience with Salesforce GovCloud environments.
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (e.g., shell scripting, CI tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Experience supporting ATO processes, audit readiness, and POA&M tracking.
  • Familiarity with integration deployments and coordinating releases across interconnected systems.
  • ITIL certification or experience with IT service management frameworks.
  • Experience leading release governance and establishing release management best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own the release calendar, coordinating with project managers, Scrum teams, and government stakeholders to schedule deployments across environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod).
  • Manage deployments using tools such as Salesforce Change Sets, DevOps Center, Gearset, Copado, or Metadata API–based pipelines.
  • Maintain branching strategies, ensure code integrity, and enforce commit standards in Git‑based repositories.
  • Oversee sandbox refresh cycles, data seeding, and environment alignment to support testing and development.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure test plans, regression testing, and validation steps are completed before release approval.
  • Ensure all releases comply with federal change control processes (CAB, documentation, approvals).
  • Identify release‑related risks, maintain mitigation plans, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines to improve release efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide release notes, deployment status updates, and post‑release reporting to internal teams and government clients.
  • Ensure releases meet federal security, audit, and documentation requirements (e.g., FISMA, ATO processes).
