Salesforce Principal

Ness Digital EngineeringNew York, NY

About The Position

The Salesforce Principal at Ness is the most senior practitioner on an engagement. This role owns how the solution is shaped and delivered, from the requirement baseline through design, impact assessment, to the final working software. The Principal acts as the primary point of contact for client sponsors and guides the delivery squad. This is a hands-on role where senior practitioners establish the framework and lead the work, while also contributing to critical aspects of the delivery.

Requirements

  • Twelve or more years of experience in enterprise business systems.
  • Six or more years of experience delivering Salesforce solutions.
  • At least three years of experience as the most senior practitioner on an engagement.
  • Deep experience with Sales Cloud.
  • Direct hands-on experience with Revenue Lifecycle Management or CPQ (quoting, pricing, approvals, contracts, path to order).
  • Proven ability to deliver change within a large, mature, heavily customized Salesforce org with technical debt and complex automation.
  • Experience leading a squad through agile delivery, including sprints, ceremonies, a groomed backlog, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Credibility in front of client sponsor groups and the ability to hold a position with VPs.
  • Salesforce certifications: Administrator and Sales Cloud Consultant.
  • Ability to read an org's metadata and establish what a proposed change touches (flows, Apex, triggers, approval processes, record types, page layouts, permission sets, integrations) without assistance.
  • Ability to design for multi-region orgs where regions share components and changes can propagate.
  • Proficiency in VS Code with Salesforce CLI, or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Willingness to find and learn new tools for analysis.
  • Ability to use AI tooling as an accelerator and verify its output.
  • Takes ownership without being asked; identifies, plans, and drives necessary actions.
  • Raises problems early with a proposed way forward.
  • Answers questions directly and provides timelines for unavailable answers.
  • Checks information before asserting it; does not present known information as new.
  • Comfortable being the most accountable person, even with bad news.
  • Develops others by explaining the 'why' behind actions.

Nice To Haves

  • Revenue Cloud, Advanced Administrator, or an Architect-track Salesforce certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design of the solution, including data model, automation, security model, integration boundaries, and sequencing of changes in a complex Salesforce org.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the requirement baseline, tracing each requirement to its source and verifying against existing configurations.
  • Assess and communicate the impact and risks of changes, producing impact assessments that experienced client architects will accept.
  • Manage the client relationship as the day-to-day delivery lead, setting expectations and proactively bringing forward problems with proposed solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a forward plan, ensuring sprint ceremonies run smoothly and that the squad and client are aware of the plan and timelines.
  • Lead the squad by assigning work, unblocking issues, and raising the standard of performance, particularly for junior team members.
  • Exercise commercial judgment to understand the engagement's value and scope, identifying and presenting out-of-scope work with timelines.
  • Contribute to the practice by sharing learnings, supporting pre-sales efforts, and shaping practice delivery methods.
