About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and talented Salesforce Enterprise Platform Architect to join the JETSII Contract. This role serves as the senior technical authority for NASA's unified, multi-tenant Salesforce ecosystem. You will provide enterprise-wide architectural vision, governance leadership, and platform stewardship, ensuring Salesforce capabilities, integrations, and customizations are strategically aligned with Agency objectives, technically scalable, and sustainably managed across all customer tenants. The architect will lead cross-functional technical reviews, establish development and governance standards, guide implementation teams, and shape long-term platform strategy to support NASA's mission-critical business operations.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and normally possess 15 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience
  • 7+ years of hands‑on Salesforce platform experience
  • Proven technical leadership of cross-functional engineering teams and delivery of complex enterprise initiatives
  • Experience designing and delivering large-scale, enterprise Salesforce solutions supporting multiple business functions
  • Experience developing enterprise platform strategy, architecture roadmaps, and governance aligned to business objectives
  • Experience architecting enterprise solutions across multiple Salesforce clouds and platform capabilities
  • Salesforce Certified Application Architect and/or System Architect required
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy and communicate effectively with executives, business stakeholders, and engineering teams
  • Strong technical expertise in: Salesforce Platform Expertise, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Salesforce Platform, Enterprise Architecture, Solution architecture, Integration architecture, Data architecture, Security architecture, Identity and access management, DevOps and CI/CD, Enterprise integration patterns, APIs (REST/SOAP), event-driven architecture, and MuleSoft or comparable integration platforms.

  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
  • Additional certifications such as: Salesforce Platform Developer I/II, Integration Architect, Data Architect, Identity and Access Management Architect, Sharing and Visibility Architect, Application Architect or System Architect (if not already held)
  • Experience working in large government enterprise environments
  • Experience evaluating and implementing Salesforce AI capabilities, including Agentforce, Einstein, Prompt Builder, and related AI governance
  • Experience with modern DevOps and Agile toolchains (GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, SonarQube, Confluence)
  • Experience with enterprise platform governance, license optimization, budgeting, and total cost of ownership (TCO) planning
  • Experience leading architecture review boards, Centers of Excellence (CoE), or enterprise governance forums
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and governance practices (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, SAFe)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the enterprise Salesforce Platform Architect, providing strategic architectural leadership for the agency's Salesforce ecosystem and ensuring scalable, secure, resilient, and mission-aligned platform design.
  • Lead architecture reviews and governance forums to ensure enterprise standards, solution quality, and technical consistency.
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise Salesforce strategy, governance framework, and multi-year roadmap aligned with mission objectives and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Align business processes with Salesforce features, standardize automation patterns, and define when to use Flow, code, or external systems.
  • Recommend improvements to the enterprise operating model and clarify roles between platform governance and tenant administration.
  • Audit license usage and platform assets regularly; identify compliance risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Establish and continuously improve platform delivery processes, including demand intake, solution review, and development lifecycle practices.
  • Establish and oversee enterprise architecture standards by reviewing solution designs, customizations, data models, automation, and code for alignment with platform best practices.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise reference architectures, design standards, reusable patterns, and architectural documentation.
  • Define enterprise integration architecture and standards for APIs, event-driven messaging, MuleSoft, identity services, and external system connectivity.
  • Define platform lifecycle strategies, including release planning, technical currency, deprecation, and modernization initiatives.
  • Own enterprise data architecture, including logical and physical data models, duplicate management strategies, metadata standards, and data retention/archival plans.
  • Identify technical debt, prioritize platform modernization efforts, and guide remediation strategies to improve long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to establish security architecture, identity management, access controls, and compliance with agency security policies.
  • Reduce object sprawl, consolidate overlapping custom objects, and enforce naming standards and data dictionaries.
  • Mentor architects, developers, administrators, and technical leads while promoting reusable design patterns and platform best practices.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, and application owners to ensure Salesforce integrates effectively within the broader enterprise technology ecosystem.
  • Evaluate emerging Salesforce capabilities, including Agentforce, Einstein, and AI technologies, and recommend adoption strategies aligned with agency priorities.
  • Evaluate new Salesforce features and advise on adoption.
