Salesforce Developer

Cardiff

About The Position

Salesforce is central to Cardiff's operations, managing leads, deals, merchants, and funding decisions. It also houses a decade of application logic. This role is crucial for modernizing these processes by building an integration layer between Salesforce and Cardiff's platform, and developing services to replace existing Apex and Flow logic. The company is heavily invested in AI and automation, with a strategy to move automation outside of Salesforce into their AWS environment. This involves building external agents that interact with Salesforce via its API, rather than relying on additional managed packages or solely on in-platform solutions. The ideal candidate will embrace this approach, writing Apex when necessary but also developing external services to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Coding agents are a primary tool for development, with an expectation of significantly increased shipping speed and a strong emphasis on human judgment to review AI-generated code.

Requirements

  • 3+ years developing on Salesforce, with production ownership of shipped code.
  • Strong Apex and SOQL skills, including triggers, async patterns (Batch, Queueable, Platform Events), governor limits, and bulk-safe design.
  • Experience with Lightning Web Components and modern front-end fundamentals.
  • Experience with REST and platform-event integrations between Salesforce and external systems, including authentication, error handling, and retries.
  • Proficiency in source-driven development: sfdx, Git, sandboxes, and CI/CD.
  • Real programming experience outside the Salesforce ecosystem, preferably in Python or TypeScript, with SQL and cloud deployment (AWS preferred).
  • Experience using coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) as a primary development method, with a specific example from the last six months of delivering something significantly faster using AI tools.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals to recognize when AI output is incorrect.
  • Ability to ship code quickly and effectively.
  • Independent work ethic and proactive communication.
  • Willingness to delete triggers rather than add them.
  • Comfortable communicating technical limitations and needs to stakeholders without jargon.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience decomposing a Salesforce org by moving functionality to external services and retiring in-platform versions.
  • Experience in Fintech, lending, or MCA data models, such as Fundingo.
  • Experience with Snowflake or other data warehouses.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I or II certification.
  • Experience with LLM APIs, agent orchestration, or RAG in production.

Responsibilities

  • Build on top of Salesforce and develop the path off it, using Apex, LWC, and SOQL where appropriate, and Python services on AWS calling Salesforce through its APIs where they are better suited.
  • Own the integration layer connecting the Salesforce org to the Cardiff API, Snowflake, agent platforms, and lender partners.
  • Write Apex, LWC, and SOQL, including triggers, async processing, batch jobs, platform events, and custom components, ensuring code is readable and testable.
  • Develop REST and platform-event integrations between Salesforce and external systems, including the Cardiff API, Snowflake, Twilio, agent platforms, and lender APIs.
  • Manage the migration of logic from Apex and Flow into services on AWS, and cleanly retire the in-platform versions.
  • Implement release engineering using source-driven development with sfdx, version control, and CI/CD.
  • Focus on data and performance, adhering to governor limits, writing bulk-safe code, and optimizing queries for growing volumes.
  • Provide production support for built components, owning fixes and write-ups for any issues.
  • Map the org's code and integration surface, understanding triggers, Apex, and inter-system communication.
  • Deliver against stakeholder requests on a predictable cadence.
  • Build or rebuild integrations against the Cardiff API.
  • Scope the path off significant in-platform logic with a defined timeline.
  • Move workloads out of Apex or Flow into services on AWS and retire the Salesforce side.
  • Ensure the integration layer is trusted, handles volume, fails loudly, and recovers.
  • Ensure deployments go out smoothly through source control and CI/CD.
  • Improve the codebase through testing and refactoring.

Benefits

  • Base salary: $110,000
  • Performance bonus of up to $20,000, tied to delivery and business outcomes
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan
  • Flexible PTO and observed holidays
