About The Position

Ethos is a leading life insurance technology company looking for a Salesforce Developer to build and support custom applications and integrations that their sales, customer experience, and partnership teams depend on. This role involves the full lifecycle of application development, from design through deployment, with a focus on event-driven integrations, APIs, and sales/service tooling within the Salesforce platform. The developer will work collaboratively with other teams, including Salesforce Administrators, business analysts, data engineers, and product engineering teams, as part of the Enterprise Systems team. The company utilizes a source-driven, Git-based development process with automated release pipelines.

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years of Salesforce development experience (not just admin and config work), or equivalent evidence of delivering and supporting production systems.
  • Strong Apex, SOQL, bulk processing, asynchronous processing, and automated testing skills.
  • Experience building REST or event-driven integrations that handle duplicate messages, retries, and partial failures.
  • Ability to build and debug Flow and LWC (modern JavaScript, ES6+) solutions, and articulate when Apex is a better choice.
  • Experience with Salesforce data models, sharing, object and field access, Salesforce CLI, Git, and automated deployments.
  • Ability to investigate production failures, review code, and explain technical decisions to business teams.
  • Experience using AI coding tools and verifying their output for correctness, security, and maintainability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with trigger frameworks and layered Apex design (domain, selector, and service classes), dependency injection, and mocking libraries.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with customer data platforms, contact-center systems, marketing tools, or identity providers.
  • Insurance or financial services experience, especially with agent or partner distribution.
  • Knowledge of consent and privacy compliance (TCPA, CCPA).
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.

Responsibilities

  • Build reliable event-driven integrations, handling duplicate and late events, recovering from failures, and providing clear diagnostics.
  • Build and maintain inbound REST APIs and outbound callouts to external systems.
  • Build and improve Apex, LWC, and Flow solutions, maintaining existing automation and migrating logic to Apex when necessary for scale, control, or testing.
  • Write Apex code that performs efficiently at scale, adhering to governor limits, record locks, and asynchronous job limits.
  • Protect personal and health data by enforcing appropriate sharing, object and field access, and least privilege principles.
  • Build integrations using Named and External Credentials, OAuth 2.0, Platform Events, Change Data Capture, and Apex REST, designing for retries, idempotency, and partial failure.
  • Write comprehensive tests covering behavior and failure cases, using mocks where appropriate, addressing static-analysis findings, and participating in code reviews.
  • Deploy code through Git-based CI/CD pipelines, managing sandboxes, destructive changes, rollback plans, and Salesforce releases.
  • Support deployed applications by triaging production issues, debugging across integration boundaries, and addressing root causes.
