About The Position

The Sales Tax Accountant is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting, sales-tax, receivable or financial tasks and reporting. Assumes responsibility and accountability for managing system-wide sales and use tax calculation, submission and reconciliation.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree In Accounting or CPA Eligible candidate

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of sales & use tax preparation and review experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and files monthly, quarterly and annual (or as required) multi–state sales and use tax returns.
  • Involved in month end closing.
  • Prepares amended returns or refunds for sales tax credits.
  • Monitors changes in sales and use tax laws and regulations in all states and ensures business is in tax compliance.
  • Responsible for sales and use tax audits including gathering documentation, analyzing data, researching tax law and contesting the assessment of the audit.
  • Audits accounts payable invoices for use tax compliance.
  • Responds to tax authorities on tax notices and inquiries.
  • Reviews and understands new products and customers and determines sales tax exemption applicability.
  • Reconciles tax accounts to general ledger.
  • Maintains tax codes assigned within vendor item master files.
  • Assists other departments with sales and use tax-related questions.
