About The Position

The route sales driver shall be responsible for driving a truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customers' places of business. The driver must follow all Department of Transportation regulations. This role involves collecting money, making change, recording transactions, writing customer orders, soliciting new business, informing customers of new products, and resolving service complaints. The position requires physical activity such as climbing, crawling, and walking to load/unload product, stock shelves, set up displays, issue promotional materials, and collect returns. Significant physical demands include stacking and unstacking items weighing 50 pounds from a height of seven feet, and dragging stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds. The role also requires working in extreme temperatures (over 100°F and below 32°F) and primarily outdoors in various conditions. The successful candidate will maintain truck cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and operate the vehicle safely and courteously.

Requirements

Must have a Class A commercial driver’s license
Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen
Ability to climb, crawl, and walk in an upright as well as a bent position.
Ability to stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
Ability to drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds.
Ability to work in very hot (100+) and very cool (less than 32°) environments.
Ability to work outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
Ability to keep the inside of the truck clean.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on truck.
Ability to work and drive in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

Writes customer orders and instructions; records sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery record.
Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
Informs regular customers of new products or services.
Listens to and resolves service complaints.
Loads and unloads product at destination.
Places stock on shelves or racks.
Sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
Issues sales promotion materials to customers.
Collects or picks up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
Stacks and unstacks items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
Drags stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift.
Loads and unloads truck and carries merchandise.
Works in very hot (100+) and very cool (less than 32°) environments throughout the year.
Works outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
Keeps the inside of the truck clean.
Performs routine maintenance on truck.
Works and drives in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
