About The Position

The Ready Mix Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing customer relationships within assigned territories to drive revenue growth and ensure long-term client retention. The position encompasses the full sales cycle, including prospecting, quoting, order management, and post-sale service, with a focus on ready mix concrete, aggregate, block products, and related offerings. The Sales Representative serves as the primary point of contact between Chaney Enterprises and its customers, vendors, and community partners, representing the organization's commitment to quality and service excellence. This role directly contributes to the company's market position and operational performance through disciplined territory management, accurate reporting, and proactive problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ready mix concrete, sand and gravel, block products, and light construction equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, colleagues, and trade partners.
  • Ability to obtain state certification for materials testing within one year of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Professional appearance and conduct consistent with the standards established in the company handbook.
  • Ability to operate standard equipment controls, including buttons, levers, and related mechanisms, as necessary to support field testing activities.
  • Ability to travel independently throughout the assigned territory on a regular basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in outside sales within the construction materials, aggregates, or ready mix concrete industry.
  • Existing knowledge of or experience with the Major Bid Process and construction permitting systems.
  • Established relationships within the local construction or contracting community.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes territory itineraries to maintain consistent contact with existing customers, strengthen key relationships with owners and decision-makers, and identify additional product and service needs.
  • Monitors business leads and new construction activity through the established Major Bid Process, including tracking construction management documents, developing referrals, re-engaging inactive accounts, monitoring permit issuance, and attending major bid openings as required.
  • Prepares accurate customer quotes in accordance with the established pricing matrix, communicating product quality, availability, and service capabilities to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Places customer orders with the appropriate internal departments and monitors production scheduling, product quality, and delivery fulfillment to ensure commitments are met.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints related to billing discrepancies, product quality, quantity shortfalls, and service failures, coordinating with the Billing and Credit Departments to bring account issues to timely resolution.
  • Represents Chaney Enterprises at trade fairs, community events, industry seminars, bid openings, and customer entertainment engagements to promote brand awareness, strengthen relationships, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Compiles and submits accurate daily sales activity reports, monthly mileage and expense reports, and customer profile forms, ensuring all documentation meets Credit Department classification requirements and internal deadlines.
  • Prepares periodic projected business outlooks for assigned territories, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to inform sales planning and resource allocation.
  • Conducts field quality control tests as needed to verify that product standards comply with project specifications and customer requirements.
  • Collaborates with Operations Managers, Dispatchers, and Technical Services personnel to support project status reporting, coordinate customer service responses, and assist in the resolution of operational issues.
  • Adheres to all applicable safety regulations while present at job sites, customer facilities, and Chaney Enterprises locations, modeling safe behavior at all times.
  • Identifies and proposes process improvements and innovative approaches to strengthen business performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
