The Sales Manager is responsible for forecasting goals and objectives for the department, striving to meet them, and fostering harmony and teamwork with all other departments. This role involves attending management meetings, assisting the Dealer in forecasting controllable expenses for new and used vehicle departments, and staying compliant with all relevant regulations. The Sales Manager will hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of sales employees, directing and scheduling their activities to enhance the dealership's image and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include communicating policies, setting sales objectives, guiding salespeople in setting short and long-range objectives, reviewing performance, developing improvement programs for underperforming staff, and recommending dismissals when necessary. The role also involves conducting sales training meetings, working with salespeople to increase vehicle gross and F&I penetration, ensuring daily work plans are followed, supervising salespeople on planned contact basis, evaluating quarterly gross performance, conducting weekly sales meetings, maintaining accurate sales records, insisting on adherence to the prospecting program, submitting weekly commissions, making used car appraisals, recommending inventory based on market analysis, assisting in closing deals, maintaining vehicle delivery standards, assisting with advertising campaigns, and coordinating departmental functions with Service, Parts, and the business office.
