About The Position

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading, mentoring, and managing a team of junior sales representatives to drive revenue growth and achieve organizational sales targets. In addition to team leadership responsibilities, the Area Sales Manager also carries an individual sales quota and is expected to personally generate new business and maintain strong client relationships. This dual role ensures the Area Sales Manager leads by example while supporting team performance, accountability, and success.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding individual sales quotas.
  • Strong knowledge of sales principles, pipeline management, and negotiation strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of junior sales representatives.
  • Establish clear sales goals, performance metrics, and activity expectations for the team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions and team meetings to provide feedback, training, and professional development.
  • Monitor performance and provide guidance to ensure consistent achievement of sales objectives.
  • Maintain a personal sales pipeline and achieve an assigned individual sales quota.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities with prospective clients.
  • Build long-term relationships with key accounts to expand revenue opportunities.
  • Lead by example in prospecting, networking, client presentations, and deal negotiation.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies that align with company goals.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to adjust sales approaches.
  • Collaborate with marketing to generate leads, campaigns, and sales tools.
  • Track individual and team sales activity using EMR tools and reporting systems.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for senior leadership on pipeline health, revenue forecasts, and performance outcomes.
  • Identify gaps in performance and implement action plans for improvement.
  • Onboard new sales representatives and provide structured training on products, services, and sales methodologies.
  • Conduct role-playing, shadowing, and continuous learning opportunities to enhance team skills.
  • Encourage ongoing professional development for the team.
