The Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington Hotel is an upscale Marriott property located in Bloomington, Minnesota, conveniently situated near the Mall of America, Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport, and major Twin Cities attractions. The hotel features 253 guest rooms, on-site dining at LARS Restaurant & Bar, an indoor Junior Olympic-sized pool, fitness center, and more than 4,300 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. The hotel’s design and atmosphere reflect a distinctly Minnesota aesthetic, incorporating warm, modern décor and local-inspired elements that create a welcoming sense of place. We are seeking a dynamic, guest-focused Sales Manager who inspires others and is a team player. This role is ideal for a results-driven Sales Manager who thrives on building strong client relationships, developing high-value accounts, and driving revenue growth. The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to achieving sales goals while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact.
  • Basic mathematical and calculator skills to prepare cost proposals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers in a friendly and positive manner, to solicit business, meet client needs, and resolve complaints.
  • Ability to move throughout the hotel to conduct site inspections.
  • Ability to listen, speak, and write to ascertain and respond to client needs.
  • Strong prospecting, networking, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop new accounts and achieve sales goals.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of hotel sales, hospitality sales, event sales, or related business development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan focused on growing the hotel's SMERFE market.
  • Identify, prospect, and develop new accounts within the local and regional community.
  • Build relationships with churches, schools, colleges and universities, military organizations, fraternal organizations, ethnic and cultural groups, nonprofits, associations, sports organizations, reunions, weddings, and social groups.
  • Travel locally to conduct proactive outside sales calls, networking, client appointments, site tours, presentations, and community visits.
  • Research organizations and identify upcoming meetings, conferences, reunions, celebrations, tournaments, fundraisers, and events that may require hotel accommodations or event space.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of qualified prospects and consistently prospect for new business.
  • Develop referral relationships with event planners, community leaders, tourism organizations, venues, vendors, and other local partners.
  • Move throughout the property to conduct site inspections.
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current, and potential clients.
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
  • Coordinate participation from various departments in servicing accounts.
  • Travel out of town to solicit business in feeder cities or attend trainings as needed.
  • Prepare information for, meet with, and entertain clients as deemed appropriate to generate potential business from that account.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows as specified by the Corporate trade show attendance guide.
  • Set up exhibits involving bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching overhead.
  • Assist the support staff with the maintenance of sales files.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
