About The Position

The Sales Manager has primary responsibility for the management, direction, and performance of the assigned sales team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and achievement of revenue and profitability goals. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion in developing sales strategies, allocating resources, and making personnel decisions that directly impact business results

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales management experience
  • Proven leadership ability and experience managing sales teams
  • Strong customer relationship and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of basic construction systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Experience in supplier relationship management

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise a team of full-time sales employees
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and terminate sales personnel, with recommendations given particular weight in employment decisions
  • Monitor and evaluate sales team performance and productivity
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and mentorship to enhance selling skills and motivation
  • Set expectations and ensure Account Executives meet activity standards (calls, meetings, proposals, and closing deals)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, architects, designers, and building owners
  • Meet with key customers to support relationship development, negotiations, and deal closures
  • Act as liaison between customers, sales team, and corporate partners to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure high service levels
  • Accompany sales team members on customer visits to provide coaching, support complex negotiations, and reinforce sales strategy
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer base and market share
  • Stay current on market conditions, industry trends, and product knowledge
  • Ensure appropriate controls and processes are in place for pricing accuracy, order integrity, and compliance
  • Support sales team with order fulfillment inquiries, including special orders
  • Prepare and review periodic sales reports, including sales volume and growth opportunities
  • Establish and implement sales strategies, pricing approaches, and market development plans
  • Analyze sales performance data and adjust tactics to achieve financial targets
  • Make decisions regarding customer prioritization, territory alignment, and resource allocation
  • Assist in budget preparation and alignment with annual financial targets
  • Coordinate with credit department when necessary to support customer accounts
  • Communicate customer feedback and issues to the Branch Manager
  • Participate in inventory counts and ensure operational compliance
  • Attend sales meetings, company training sessions, and vendor trainings
  • Participate in trade associations, conferences, and industry events
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support sales and corporate objectives
