About The Position

Allweather Wood is seeking a Sales Manager to lead their Sales team for the NW Region (Washougal and Coos Bay). This is an exempt, onsite position requiring regular physical attendance and full participation in collaborative, in-office activities. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA, operating six wood preserving plants and two distribution centers. They partner with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of products to market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, from a four-year College or university.
  • Minimum of seven years’ sales experience, preferably in a multi-location manufacturing or distribution operation within the building materials industry.
  • Must maintain and carry a valid state driver’s license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles including automobiles and trucks in accordance with company policy guidelines.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of the organization.
  • Communicate effectively by telephone, in person and in writing.
  • Proven success at building and maintaining strong and/or long-term relationships with vendors, customers, co-workers and employees.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Regular, physical attendance is required.
  • Must be able to work in person, interact directly with co-workers and team members, and fully participate in collaborative, in-office activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the regional sales team to effectively and profitably maintain and grow Allweather Wood and Humboldt Redwood’s market share for treated and redwood products.
  • Set product pricing.
  • Determine goals and metrics.
  • Help manage aged inventory.
  • Motivate the inside and outside sales teams.
  • Assist in the resolution of customer issues, including accounts receivable.
  • Coach and develop the sales team to maximize sales effectiveness.
  • Assist in the analysis and development of customer programs and contracts.
  • Ensure all contracts are implemented and adhered to by both AWW/HRC and the customer.
  • Daily management of the regional sales team, including pricing direction, sales volume and margin tracking, issue resolution, development and implementation of customer programs, and communication with purchasing to manage inventory levels and turns.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to build and maintain a world-class sales team.
  • Foster a “best practices” environment with peers from other locations for improved sales procedures.
  • Communicate openly and consistently with purchasing and operations on customer, product, and market issues and improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with sales teams regarding market conditions and trends, pricing, and order fulfillment opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of new product offerings in the wood fiber market and work with sales to research potential new product strategies.
  • Manage multiple priorities, work with a sense of urgency, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales function of the organization.
  • Provide market information to the sales team, purchasing team, and customers to streamline and continuously improve customer service and satisfaction.
  • Lead by example in establishing and enhancing relationships with customers.
  • On a regular basis, visit traditional customers for the AWW Distribution chain ensuring inventory levels and product quality are acceptable, and that customers are pleased with the service they are receiving.
  • Ensure effective monitoring of consigned inventories.
  • Travel of a regional nature up to 45% of the time to customer and representative territories.
