The company provides comprehensive port and vessel services, including ship agency, logistics coordination, and operational support, delivering reliable and professional solutions across major U.S. Gulf and East Coast ports. Location of Position: Based in Houston, TX, with up to 50% travel required, both domestically and internationally. The Position: The Sales Manager supports revenue growth by developing and executing strategic sales initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, and building strong relationships with key clients in the maritime transportation industry. This role works closely with the VP of Sales and internal teams, conducts market research to inform sales strategies, and represents the company at industry events. The Sales Manager also prepares and presents proposals, negotiates contracts, and provides ongoing reporting and insights to support business development efforts and overall sales performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field required
  • Equivalent years of work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the maritime industry required
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Must possess a valid passport and be eligible for international travel.
  • Knowledge of sales, relationship management, and customer service principles.
  • Deep understanding of the commercial relationship with operations.
  • Comfortable with cold calling and initiating contact with potential clients.
  • Familiarity with maritime industry operations, with liquid products knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Experience with using a CRM system (HubSpot preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales and internal teams to develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with company goals and designed to meet revenue targets.
  • Identify and engage with new prospects to grow the customer base.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with vessel owners, operators, charterers, and ship managers.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape within the maritime transportation industry.
  • Gather and analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitive insights to inform sales efforts.
  • Support the VP of Sales by providing reports and updates on business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operations teams at various ports to identify revenue growth opportunities.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry meetings, and networking events.
  • Participate in internal sales meetings, training sessions, and team-building activities.
  • Prepare and collect relevant business development data.
  • Prepare and present sales proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
