About The Position

A Sales Lot Porter is responsible for verifying receipt of and performing damage inspections on new vehicles delivered to the dealership, parking vehicles in the lot in an orderly manner, moving and cleaning vehicles, keeping the vehicles in good working condition and assisting Sales Consultants and Management as requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • One year experience in an automobile retail environment
  • Must have valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record and safe driving habits in order to drive both customer vehicles and a demonstrator vehicle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Available to work 7am – 7pm Monday - Saturday
  • Must be insurable
  • Ability to collaborate with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time
  • Ability to collaborate with other dealership personnel
  • Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity
  • Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct
  • Proficient knowledge of tools and materials needed to perform departmental duties ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the new and used vehicle inventory in a neat and organized manner
  • Maintain the parking lot in an organized, efficient manner
  • Ensure that all vehicles in the lot are locked
  • Move customer and dealership vehicles as directed
  • Inspect new vehicle inventory and report any damages to management immediately
  • Catalogs and stores keys
  • Assigns stock control numbers to cars
  • Moves sold vehicles to maximize use of space and keep the lot in order
  • Deliver and pickup vehicles for promotional events
  • Make and implement decisions regarding maintaining and cleaning vehicles
  • Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations, such as safety requirements, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Clean dealership areas (e.g., walkways and sidewalks) as needed
  • Utilize all available information to ensure proper resolution of problems
  • Provide prompt, efficient and quality service to the customers and dealership
  • Take the initiative to exceed customer satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming obstacles
  • Present self as positive role model by demonstrating commitment to the department, customers, dealership and company
  • Listen actively to understand others completely
  • Resolve all disputes and difficulties with professionalism and composure
  • Prioritize work to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Complete Mercedes-Benz training courses as directed
  • Perform other specific assignments as directed
