About The Position

This internship focuses on learning and applying effective sales and marketing skills by collaborating with experienced Heartland Co-op employees. The intern will concentrate on seed sales and crop development, gaining practical experience in the agricultural sales sector.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and the internet.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or Bachelor's Degree in an agricultural related field or working towards a Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Support the work of the Regional Seed Advisors and the Seed Sales Manager.
  • Engage with vendors and locations regarding seed ordering, delivery, and treatment.
  • Collaborate with the agronomy sales team to identify patron needs, develop solutions, and implement programs for strategic growth.
  • Collect and evaluate the performance of hybrids and varieties in Heartland Coop seed plots.
  • Scout patron fields containing Heartland Coop seed hybrids and varieties.
  • Develop solutions for any in-field problems that patrons may encounter.
  • Assist in building a strategic marketing plan for the upcoming crop season.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
