About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Sales Intern in Kansas City, KS. This is a full-time opportunity with travel required within the territory. The Sales Intern is responsible for assisting in various stages of the sales process, including creating awareness of new offerings, generating leads, and retaining customers. This role will work closely with members of the area sales team. The intern will establish and maintain clear communication lines with internal departments regarding customer successes, failures, and new developments. They will work closely with local Branch Managers to promote sales and customer management through retail store locations within their assigned geographical area. The role involves maintaining a high level of internal customer service by assisting the sales force and submitting professional quotes. The intern will prepare and deliver effective sales presentations and proposals, qualify and pursue sales leads, and keep management informed of territory performance, personal performance, and market trends. Regular submission of sales and activity reports is required. The intern must attend and complete all training modules, develop and maintain positive work habits conducive to sales and profitability growth, and coordinate efforts with the e-business team to set up customers on Airgas.com. Maintaining focus on safety in the workplace by complying with company safety procedures and practices, and assisting customers with safety compliance and training related to Airgas products and services is also a key responsibility. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university majoring in Business, Sales or similar discipline preferred.
  • Third or fourth year student preferred.
  • Prior outside sales/service experience preferred.
  • Strong mathematical, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to apply to customer sales analysis and cost comparisons.
  • Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and the ability to understand both internal and external customer needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Google suite applications include Gmail, Sheets, and Docs.
  • Ability to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments relative to customer specific successes and failures, new customer developments and other customer specific information.

  • Coordinates efforts with e-business team to setup customers on Airgas.com.
  • Maintains focus on safety in the workplace by complying with company safety procedures and practices.
  • Assists customers in their compliance and training with industry safety standards relating to the products and services that Airgas delivers.
