The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver an excellent customer experience. This involves coaching and training associates, delegating tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. The role includes both customer-facing activities like greeting customers, identifying solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing activities such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. Supervisors are also responsible for store safety, including conducting safety walks and coaching on safe behaviors. They work with leaders to implement sales and service objectives and communicate best practices to their team. Additionally, the supervisor may need to supervise associates in other departments, requiring broad product knowledge. Effective upward communication to management regarding concerns, issues, praises, and morale is also a key aspect of the role. Occasionally, this position may involve opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty.
