About The Position

Cardinal Home Center is a fourth-generation family-owned business with over 30 years in the lumber and building supply industry. We are looking for a motivated Sales Floor Associate who enjoys working with people, keeping merchandise organized, and helping customers find the right products for their projects. Requirements

  • The ability to work from both written and verbal instruction.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with peers and managers to achieve assigned duties and desired management outcomes.
  • The ability to actively listen to customer questions and complaints and develop solutions that are in line with company guidelines and service culture.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with vendors, under the guidance of the Store Manager, to rotate inventory and displayed items to optimize sales and profitability.
  • Ensure that all items for return are properly labeled and returned for store credit.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager in regards to labeling and discounts for low volume/discontinued items.
  • Communicate any shortages of product appropriately with Purchaser and Inventory Manager.
  • Restock merchandise on showroom floor.
  • Maintain clean and dust free shelves and product within assigned area.
  • Keep floors swept and free of debris within assigned area.
  • Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
  • Demonstrate and explain merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs.
  • Answer customer's questions about merchandise and assist with purchase decisions.
  • Retrieve merchandise from sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations, places special orders.
  • Answer phone calls directed to the paint room.
  • Tint paint upon request and color match.
  • Receive orders and reconcile with invoice.
  • Fill delivery tickets.
  • Complete inventory maintenance reports on a weekly basis including the Shoot the Outs document and turns it into purchaser and management.
  • Cross-train in other departments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in the showroom.
