About The Position

The Sales Engineer will provide sales support through customer meetings (Zoom and in-person) to identify solutions for customer questions. This role involves assisting with carrier portals and data entry for RFPs. The Sales Engineer will collaborate with Engineering and Pricing Desk to understand build costs, equipment costs, and other quote variables. They will also assist in the research, evaluation, and launch of new products or services. Key responsibilities include maintaining network records (NNI/EVC, customer circuit/tower inventory, diagrams), updating all documents and communication in Salesforce, and serving as the technical subject matter expert for the sales organization. This includes attending sales calls, delivering technical presentations, explaining proposed solutions, and negotiating technical aspects of contracts. The role requires coordinating internal technical resources for sales proposals and presentations, and providing technical assistance to customers, sales team members, project managers, and the Director of Business Development. The Sales Engineer will be the technical expert on AUREON products and services, providing technical solutions and presentations to customers. They will design complex layer 0-3 data network sales solutions, including network topologies and technical specifications, and translate complex technical designs between the sales team and customers. The role also involves developing documentation for management and customers, assisting with internal hardware/software system support and training, obtaining technical information from customers and vendors for clean orders, and assisting with GIS mapping of AUREON’s networks. Continuous improvement of skills through ongoing training, maintaining a professional attitude and appearance, and fostering good working relationships are also expected. The role may involve other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a telecommunications carrier environment
• Applicant must hold a valid state driver’s license.
• Complete understanding of layer 0-3 carrier services marketplace and related technologies.
• Firm grasp of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards and nomenclature.
• Familiarity with SONET & TDM based services.
• Ability to develop sales opportunities with current customers.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries.
• Must have keen attention to detail, be self-directed, understand the requirements, and take the initiative to complete tasks or assignments with little or no direction.
• Ability to interface with internal and external audiences for effective management of a project or customer expectations.
• Ability to focus and deliver proactively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure, organizing multiple tasks and projects in an ever-changing environment.
• Effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be given adequate consideration.
• MEF, CECP, CCNA, Comp TIA, ITIL, MCSE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as technical expert on AUREON products and services.
• Provide the sales team with technical solutions for customers.
• Assist sales team with technical presentations to current and potential customers.
• Design viable complex layer 0-3 data network sales solutions for customer applications, including preparation of network topologies, technical specifications, etc.
• Translate and communicates complex technical design considerations between the sales team and prospective customers on sales calls and appointments.
• Develop documentation to be reported to all levels of management and customers.
• Assist with the support and training related to internal hardware/software systems.
• Work with customers and their vendors to obtain technical information needed to support clean orders through provisioning and installation process.
• Assist with GIS mapping of AUREON’s backbone and/or distribution networks.
• Improve personal skill set through ongoing training.
• Maintain professional attitude and appearance.
• Foster good working relationships with all team members and staff.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident.
