Sales Engineer, GPUaaS & AI Infrastructure

Alpha Compute
•$120,000 - $150,000

About The Position

As a Sales Engineer, you are the technical linchpin supporting the broader sales organization. You will bridge the gap between complex AI hardware capabilities and our customers' business objectives. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the AI compute lifecycle, strong industry relationships, and the technical aptitude to effectively communicate the value of our high-density GPUaaS solutions to both engineering leaders and procurement officers. You will translate complex client workloads (AI training and inference) into precise infrastructure configurations, proving that Alpha Compute's offerings provide the highest performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency in the market.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of successful technical sales or pre-sales engineering experience within the GPUaaS, AI hardware, IaaS, or wholesale Data Center markets.
  • Prior experience working directly with or for major hardware OEMs (e.g., SuperMicro, Dell) is considered a strong plus.
  • Deep, demonstrable understanding of GPUs, storage architectures, and high-performance networking (InfiniBand, Ethernet).
  • You must understand the physical constraints of AI infrastructure, including power densities and thermal management.
  • Proven experience reviewing, auditing, and pricing out extensive hardware BOMs from OEMs and brokers to ensure technical accuracy and viability.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to present complex technical architectures clearly and persuasively to C-suite executives and lead engineers alike.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach. Ability to identify technical market opportunities and develop winning architectural strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science preferred), or a related technical field. Highly relevant, proven industry experience may be considered in lieu of a specific degree.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required by federal or defense-adjacent clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Active NVIDIA certifications (e.g., NVIDIA Certified Professional, Deep Learning Institute (DLI) credentials) are highly desirable and considered a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Sales & Solution Architecture: Effectively articulate the technical advantages and value proposition of our GPUaaS solutions to technical (CTOs, ML Engineers, Data Center Architects) and non-technical audiences. Map customer AI workloads to precise hardware configurations (e.g., NVIDIA H100/B200 clusters, InfiniBand networking).
  • Sales Organization Support: Act as the primary technical resource for Account Executives and the VP of Strategic Sales during client engagements, ensuring the sales team has the architectural backing needed to close complex deals.
  • BOM Review & Validation: Meticulously review and validate complex Bill of Materials (BOMs) provided by hardware OEMs and compute brokers to ensure 100% technical accuracy, component compatibility, and alignment with client infrastructure requirements.
  • Strategic Business Development: Partner with the sales team to identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with direct customers, brokers, and tier-one/two suppliers. Generate unique value propositions tailored to target companies and OEMs.
  • Cost-Benefit & TCO Analysis: Research, model, and present detailed reports showing potential customers the financial cost-benefits and ROI of utilizing Alpha Compute’s GPUaaS versus alternative cloud or on-premise deployments.
  • Proposal & RFP Development: Act as the technical lead in the development of compelling proposals, bids, and technical responses to complex Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, specifically focusing on customer engineering leads, technical brokers, and OEM partners.
  • Market Intelligence & Technical Trendspotting: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and emerging technologies—with a specific focus on high-density electronics, AI hardware roadmaps, and thermal management/liquid cooling in data centers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our internal data center engineering, deployment, and quality teams to ensure seamless project execution and total customer satisfaction from design through handoff.
  • Industry Representation: Represent Alpha Compute at industry trade shows, technical conferences, and networking events to enhance brand visibility and demonstrate our technical leadership.

Benefits
