About The Position

Humaans is seeking a founding Sales Development Team Lead to establish and manage the outbound sales engine for their agentic AI product, Athena, in the US market. This role involves building a team of sales associates into a high-performing pipeline generation unit. The lead will be responsible for setting standards, developing the sales playbook, and coaching the team to consistently generate meetings with key US clients. A core aspect of the role is leveraging AI to enhance team performance through improved research, sequences, and prioritization. This is a player-coach position where the lead will actively participate in outbound sales activities, including making calls and opening accounts, while simultaneously translating successful strategies into a scalable playbook for the team. The role requires close collaboration with the Founding US GTM Lead and Revenue Operations to ensure pipeline quality and smooth handoffs. The lead will also act as a conduit for market feedback to the Product and Engineering teams. The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the AI-native sales development function in a greenfield market, with decisions made now having a long-term impact on the company.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in outbound sales experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing or leading a BDR team in a B2B SaaS environment.
  • A proven track record of consistently building pipelines and coaching others to do the same.
  • Proven experience with cold calling and the ability to coach others on effective cold calling techniques.
  • Deep familiarity with outbound tooling and sequencing platforms (e.g., Clay, Claude Code, Lemlist, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Prospeo, internal tools).
  • Understanding of how to integrate AI features into daily team operations.
  • Experience building or refining an outbound workflow using AI and demonstrating improvements in output quality, speed, or conversion.
  • Strong analytical instincts and comfort using data to diagnose underperformance and advocate for process changes.
  • Experience selling or building pipeline for early-stage or category-creating products.
  • Experience in a high-growth, VC-backed environment with a fast pace and evolving playbook.
  • Clear, direct communication skills with the ability to influence across the organization.
  • This is an in-person role, requiring collaboration in the office Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

  • Building and leading the US outbound sales function for Athena, encompassing team performance, pipeline contribution, process, and development.
  • Developing outbound strategy from scratch, refining the playbook, and defining segmentation for the US enterprise market.
  • Utilizing AI-assisted tooling to create adaptive sales sequences.
  • Coaching and developing the team through structured 1:1s, call reviews, and live deal support.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the team.
  • Partnering closely with the Founding US GTM Lead and Revenue Operations to ensure pipeline quality, healthy conversion rates, and seamless handoffs.
  • Leveraging data and AI-powered analytics to drive decisions, track activity metrics, pipeline contribution, and conversion rates.
  • Using AI tooling to identify patterns and act on them quickly.
  • Serving as an early voice of the US market to Product and Engineering teams.
  • Carrying personal outbound targets and opening target accounts.
  • Translating successful individual strategies into the team's playbook.
  • Conducting call reviews and shaping sequences.
  • Maintaining high quality standards in team activities.
