About The Position

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) plays a critical role in supporting AORN’s strategic growth initiatives through proactive lead generation, sales prospecting, and pipeline development. This role is responsible for identifying and engaging perioperative leaders, educators, executives, and clinical decision-makers across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and health systems. The SDR will focus on generating qualified opportunities for the HCO sales team by leveraging outbound outreach strategies, market intelligence, CRM data, and industry insights to uncover customer needs and position AORN’s perioperative education solutions effectively. This role is also being developed in strategic collaboration with CineMed to support shared growth initiatives. While the primary focus will be HCO sales prospecting and pipeline generation, designated time will also support CineMed-related business development initiatives, customer outreach efforts, and growth opportunities tied to the AORN/CineMed partnership. This position requires a highly organized, resilient, and growth-oriented individual who is comfortable initiating conversations, building relationships, and navigating complex healthcare environments. Success in this role will directly contribute to increased revenue growth, expanded market penetration, and stronger customer engagement across AORN’s educational product portfolio. AORN is based in Denver, CO. Our Sales Development Representative will work in remotely.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience working in the medical field with a solid understanding of healthcare environments.
  • Background in telephone or B2B sales with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple priorities and maintain strong organizational discipline.
  • Comfortable working in a metric-driven environment focused on pipeline generation and revenue growth.
  • Ability to quickly learn and effectively communicate AORN and CineMed educational solutions and value propositions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Self-driven and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to engage clinical and administrative professionals in meaningful conversations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and lead management tools (e.g., Definitive Healthcare, ZoomInfo).
  • Experience with Excel and reporting tools such as Tableau.
  • Prior success in inside sales, particularly within healthcare or association environments.
  • Experience or familiarity with the perioperative environment is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of AORN’s mission and educational offerings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other strategic outreach channels to generate new business opportunities.
  • Identify and engage perioperative leaders, OR directors, educators, clinical executives, and key healthcare stakeholders.
  • Research target accounts and develop strategic outreach plans aligned with organizational priorities and market opportunities.
  • Follow up promptly on inbound marketing leads, webinar attendees, conference contacts, and campaign responses.
  • Qualify leads using established sales methodologies (BANT or similar frameworks).
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities to support revenue growth goals.
  • Support strategic initiatives aimed at increasing adoption of AORN education solutions across healthcare organizations.
  • Identify upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities within existing and prospective customer accounts.
  • Recognize market trends, workforce challenges, and operational pain points impacting perioperative teams and tailor outreach accordingly.
  • Partner with Account Executives to support territory growth strategies and targeted sales campaigns.
  • Support business development initiatives related to the AORN/CineMed partnership, including prospecting efforts tied to CineMed product offerings and growth opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all prospecting activity, customer interactions, and pipeline updates within Salesforce.
  • Ensure clean lead management practices and effective handoff processes to Account Executives.
  • Utilize CRM reporting and prospecting tools to monitor outreach effectiveness and identify areas for optimization.
  • Support data-driven sales strategies through accurate tracking and reporting of prospecting metrics and outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, IT, Nursing Education, and CineMed teams (to name a few) to improve outreach effectiveness and customer engagement.
  • Share customer insights, market feedback, and competitive intelligence with internal stakeholders.
  • Support launch initiatives for new educational offerings, campaigns, and strategic product initiatives.
  • Conduct timely and strategic follow-up related to AORN conferences, webinars, trade shows, and digital campaigns.
  • Assist with targeted outreach campaigns supporting new products, membership growth, CineMed initiatives, and strategic organizational priorities.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by the Director of HCO.
