About The Position

Johnson Brothers is a national family-owned wine, spirits and beer distributor with a long history of exceptional service since 1953. Our Sales Consultants are vital to our success, focusing on building customer relationships, providing product knowledge, and executing merchandising activities. This specific role involves servicing a territory in the Charlotte, NC market, requiring the candidate to reside in and be familiar with the surrounding areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • The position requires the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background and MVR.
  • Results-oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Uses diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various programs including presentation software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience preferred.
  • An understanding of wine and spirits is highly preferred.
  • Individuals with strong accounting, computer, customer service and interpersonal expertise preferred.
  • Familiarity with assigned territory is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales objectives and manage territory.
  • Sell current and new products, promotions, and conduct in-store tastings.
  • Service accounts and perform merchandising activities including shelf placement, maintaining cold boxes, building displays, and stocking inventories.
  • Strategies and pre-plans to achieve sales and merchandising objectives by understanding company pricing and product programming, and maintaining accurate historical account purchase information.
  • Call on accounts and cover daily routes with an efficient routing pattern.
  • Analyze account base to identify opportunities and ensure national account compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations to customers, balancing company priorities and customer needs.
  • Manage inventory levels, be aware of stock situations, and alert management to demand fluctuations.
  • Achieve distribution, volume, and activity goals for supplier brands.
  • Ensure maximum brand visibility within accounts by maintaining account standards and using point of sale materials.
  • Maintain product levels in accounts by taking inventory and restocking shelves.
  • Obtain payments for the company by collecting and delivering checks or other remittance.
  • Educate account staff on priority brands through training seminars.
  • Support account openings by developing opening orders in collaboration with the District Manager.
  • Manage customer account receivables by processing credits and returns, and communicating on aged receivables.
  • Service accounts by delivering products in extenuating circumstances, handling customer issues and complaints.
  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers by participating in supplier work-with sales calls and sales blitzes.
  • Stay informed of company/supplier activities and updates by attending sales meetings.
  • Complete all necessary training programs.
  • Maintain professional and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and establishing networks.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
