About The Position

Own the end-to-end monthly sales compensation process to ensure accurate, on-time commission delivery for Appian's global go-to-market organization. The Sales Compensation team serves as a strategic business partner to Appian's Global GTM organization, ensuring that every sales professional is compensated accurately and on time. This team administers complex compensation plans, resolves disputes with precision, and drives continuous process improvements that scale with Appian's rapid growth in AI-Powered Process Automation. You will work cross-functionally with Finance, Sales Operations, Sales, and HR to maintain trust and transparency in our incentive programs.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in sales compensation, sales operations, or related analytical roles.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas for compensation modeling and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience administering or supporting sales compensation platforms and commission calculation systems.
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms to extract, validate, and reconcile sales data for compensation purposes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain compensation plans clearly and resolve disputes diplomatically.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when managing high-stakes financial data and commission payouts.

  • Xactly Experience: Familiarity with Xactly Incent or other enterprise-grade sales compensation management platforms.
  • Salesforce Expertise: Experience using Salesforce for sales data management, reporting, and compensation workflows.

  • Reporting and Analytics: Proficiency in building dashboards and reports to provide visibility into compensation trends and plan effectiveness.
  • Ecosystem Experience: We value experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow, as these skills translate well into our Enterprise-Grade Orchestration environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the end-to-end monthly sales compensation cycle to deliver accurate commission calculations and on-time payroll processing for the global sales organization.
  • Partner with Sales to identify discrepancies and resolve commission disputes with clarity and speed.
  • Administer compensation platforms and CRM systems to ensure data integrity, automate workflows, and generate actionable reporting for stakeholders.
  • Respond quickly to sales team inquiries regarding commission statements, plan interpretation, and payout timelines with professionalism and attention to detail.
