Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort and Mineral Springs in Calistoga is seeking a Sales/Catering & Experience Manager to join our amazing crew! The primary role of the Sales/Catering + Experience Manager is to generate revenue through direct sales activities within group, catering, and business travel market segments. This individual will reside in the Calistoga, CA area. This is an on-site, exempt position that reports to the General Manager. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. What You Will Be Doing Develop and implement successful group sales solicitation activities to secure new and repeat business from target market segments, with a special focus on wedding parties and events. Lead by example in exceeding our ambitious client acquisition, revenue, and market share goals. Cultivate and activate the key sales strategies, tactics and action plans required to achieve your hotel's financial targets. Know what a "win-win" looks like by putting together tailored proposals, and contracts that benefit both the hotel(s) and the client. Support and inform the operations team in the execution of group related events, playing a strategic role with executing programming as the liaison between Marketing team & operations team on property. Clearly communicate the direction and purpose of all initiatives to all shareholders in the hotel operation so as to eliminate silos and reinforce collaborative execution of goals. Actively seek out critical information on market trends, segment behavior, and other data to make informed decisions and remain ahead of the pack, presenting your data, strategies, and results to senior leadership and ownership. Create and distribute BEO’s and group resumes, as well as leading meetings to review group resumes and BEO’s. Prepare Sightline monthly group pace report and articulate weekly STS group pace results and prospect pipeline on owners calls and in person meetings. Collaborate with VP of Sales & Corporate Marketing Team with needs to generate reports, presentation slides, and on property events. Assist with photo shoot set up and execution. Establish local partnerships with wineries and local vendors that align with hotel brand to enhance customer experience, collaborate with to promote hotel.. Input in development of events vision and strategy that spans all business units and creates value for our guests and clients. Actively seek out local hotel community and tourism industry partners to stay current on current market occurrences/happenings impacting hotel supply and demand. Champion employee engagement and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment where all employees are encouraged to speak up and their input is valued. Collaborate with shared services partners (marketing, sales and revenue management, people & culture), to maximize performance and engage with companywide initiatives. What We’re Looking For Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales positions in the hospitality industry, with a basic knowledge of food and beverage as it relates to catering and social events preferred. Experience working with independent hotels. Requires a basic understanding of the operations of all departments in the hotel, and what role each department plays in group business. Demonstrate a track record of production in group sales. Have a track record of achieving and maintaining superior sales and revenue results at your hotel(s) and can articulate the underlying strategies that led to your achievements. Demonstrate thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing. Able to train and monitor the process of sending referrals, setting traces, and profiling accounts. Possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Have a thorough knowledge of the hospitality industry, have a strong financial background, sound administrative skills, well developed management skills, and have demonstrated ability to effectively lead. A passion for hospitality will be apparent from speaking with you; you naturally connect with colleagues and guests. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The experience/knowledge of what a good piece of business looks like, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate with the operations team so they know what our guests will be expecting. Ability to use the tools of our trade: computers, Hospitality CRM (Salesforce), databases, property management systems, and industry business intelligence tools (Agency360).
