About The Position

For weary travelers, you’re more than a bartender. You’re a friendly face at the end of a long flight or a stressful day. In addition to expertly mixing cocktails and serving up ice-cold drafts, you are an ultra-friendly ambassador for the Hotel. Sure, you will be preparing drinks, taking orders, and serving plates of deliciousness. But more than that, you’ll take your food and beverage expertise and mix thoroughly with your knowledge of the city to give our guests an unforgettable experience. Piece of cake, right? Here are a few things you can expect: Demonstrate and promote a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus and promotions. You know the ins and outs of making a creative and tasty drink (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). You’ll understand when it’s okay to chat with guests and know when you should be invisible. Serve snacks or food items to guests seated at the bar. Be the face of our bars Maintain a clean and organized work area Check IDs and follow responsible alcohol service guidelines Handle cash and POS transactions Fluent in English and Spanish Where You’ve Been: We’re looking for someone with a High School diploma (or equivalent) as well as previous bartending experience and a current Food Handler’s Permit. This person will help to c reate a fun and engaging bar environment for guests; build relationships with regulars who will return; must be able to lift 25 lbs. The ability to think on your feet and work calmly under pressure is essential, so any background working in those types of environments is a plus. When You’re Here: This probably goes without saying but you’ll be on your feet a lot. There will be occasions when you may be carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds, walking, bending/twisting and climbing stairs. You'll put your 1–2 years bartending experience, knowledge of classic cocktails and wine, high-volume NY bar experience, and food handlers certification to good use. Since people tend to go to bars at night, you’ll be needed to work flexible schedules including weekends. But wait, there’s a great upside: in exchange for your flexibility we offer excellent pay, hotel discounts, and the opportunity to be part of an anything-but-standard growing hotel company.
