About The Position

This job posting is for three (3) vacancies for a Sales Attendant - Residence (Sessional) position within CUPE 116 at UBC Food Services. The role involves serving customers, taking payments, and preparing food in various food service settings including restaurants, residences, and retail outlets. Requirements

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Food Safe certificate.
  • A minimum of one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Serving customers, taking food orders at counter or tables.
  • Preparing and calculating bills for payment.
  • Processing guest orders in the computer or POS system and accepting various forms of payment.
  • Distributing change and receipts, and cashing out according to policies.
  • Recommending food inventory levels and calling in approved orders.
  • Assisting in maintaining inventory.
  • Performing physical checks on products for proper rotation and expiry dates.
  • Assisting culinary staff in the preparation of menu items, including meat, vegetables, desserts, pastry, sandwiches, salads, and specialty items.
  • Portioning, plating, wrapping, and packaging menu items.
  • Accurately following recipes, proper portion control, and reducing waste.
  • Preparing made-to-order sandwiches and dispensing menu items.
  • Setting up service counters and replenishing supplies, ensuring appropriate stock levels and proper stock rotation.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment, including bussing and cleaning tables, chairs, condiment stations, preparation areas, equipment, and seating areas.
  • Notifying supervisor or manager of areas requiring additional cleaning, maintenance, or repair.
  • Assessing and ensuring the quality of finished products before serving.
  • Confirming correct signage for all menu items.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of allergens and ingredients to answer guest inquiries.
  • Performing duties of other food service workers on a relief basis.
  • Maintaining proper standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Adhering to the UBC Food Services dress code.
  • Carrying out any other related duties as required.
