About The Position

As a Sales Associate at Petco, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find appropriate products and solutions while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role involves customer service and sales, pet-care support, cashiering, stocking, merchandising, and maintaining store standards in a fast-paced retail environment. You will work on the sales floor and collaborate with teammates to support store goals and ensure pets are cared for safely and responsibly. The position is performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment and requires active engagement on the sales floor. It involves frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting, including safely moving merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. The role also involves working near animals and exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is required to support operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

Passion for animals and interest in pet care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in proximity to animals, including exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
Share accurate product and pet-care information to help customers make informed choices.
Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
Create positive shopping experiences that build trust and customer loyalty.
Assist customers in selecting products and services that meet their pets’ needs.
Educate customers about products, services, and promotions.
Support store sales and service goals.
Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing store and sales floor.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional set-ups, and daily operational routines.
Collaborate with and support teammates in achieving store goals.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
