About The Position

That's WEIS! This role is responsible for keeping the produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands. The associate will smile and greet customers, answer customer questions, handle special requests such as filling orders for fruit baskets, and resolve customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner. Responsibilities include unpacking cartons and crates of merchandise, cleaning and trimming produce, stocking the area with new merchandise, ensuring merchandise is in saleable condition by rotating stock for freshness, and ensuring product has correct signage and pricing. The associate will also maintain the salad bar and cut fruit/vegetables as needed, assist in building attractive displays, and accurately complete necessary product logs. Handling spoiled and damaged product, new items, and discontinued items according to company policy is also a key function. The role requires maintaining general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are well-maintained, clean, and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Proper disposal of trash and minimizing shrink and controlling damages are expected. The associate may assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries, potentially operating power or hand jacks if properly trained. Assisting with baling cardboard or other related duties may also be required if properly trained. Ensuring smooth function of the department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors, and continuously improving job performance are essential. The associate is responsible for the utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear. Assistance in other departments may also be requested.

Requirements

  • Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • No prior experience required.

  • Responsible to continuously improve job performance.
