About The Position

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) is hiring Part-Time Sales Associates, also referred to as Intermittent Liquor Store Clerks (ILSC), for its Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores. The role is customer-facing and involves assisting shoppers, processing sales, handling merchandise and wholesale orders, maintaining the store, and ensuring alcohol is sold only to legally eligible customers. The position is permanent and part-time, based at Store #3522 in Meadow Avenue, Scranton, with possible assignments to other stores within the county or district based on operational needs. Telework is not available. Employees receive Affordable Care Act / Bronze Plan medical benefits from their first day of employment and have access to free onsite parking. A minimum of 13 hours per week is required, with the opportunity to work up to 32 hours depending on availability and store needs. Preferred availability is 25 to 30 hours per week. Shifts typically last 4 to 8 hours, and work hours vary. Employees must be available for daytime, evening, and weekend work on a rotating basis. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; schedules may change based on operational needs. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, meet Pennsylvania residency requirements, be able to perform the essential job functions, and pass a background investigation. A felony conviction within the ten years before the prospective employment date disqualifies an applicant from PLCB employment under the Pennsylvania Liquor Code; other convictions are reviewed case by case. The posting closes on November 1, 2026, or when 25 applications have been received, whichever occurs first.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
Must be able to perform the essential job functions, including extended standing and safely lifting products weighing 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
Must pass a background investigation.
A felony conviction within the ten years before the prospective employment date is disqualifying for PLCB employment; other criminal convictions are reviewed case by case.
Must be available to work days, nights, and weekends on a rotating basis.
Must be able to work at least 13 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Provide customer service and help shoppers find products.
Process sales transactions using a computerized cash register.
Unload shipments, stock shelves, and set up product displays.
Receive, assemble, and pack wholesale customer orders and load them into vehicles.
Safely lift products weighing 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds, including lifting overhead or from a squatting position.
Stand for extended periods.
Keep the store clean and organized.
Use scanners, box cutters, dollies, carts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
Follow legal requirements to ensure alcohol is sold only to customers legally permitted to buy it.
Work collaboratively in a team-oriented retail environment.
