About The Position

Fastenal is hiring a part-time Sales Associate for its branch at 710 Scattergood Dr NW, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The role supports business-to-business sales and customer service, using a consultative approach to communicate the value of Fastenal’s inventory management solutions. The associate develops new customer partnerships and grows existing relationships while helping drive branch success. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for 10–28 hours per week. It includes local sales calls to customer sites in a company vehicle. Training includes on-the-job, online, instructor-led classroom, and virtual learning opportunities designed to build role-specific knowledge and support career growth. Fastenal is an industrial and construction supplies distributor with more than 3,000 servicing locations. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Hold a current, full, valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located, including completion of any applicable graduated license program, and meet driving-record requirements for use of a company vehicle as needed.
Possess or be working toward a degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Management, or a related field, or have customer service or industry-related work experience.
Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Have proficient computer skills.
Show a strong aptitude for sales and a desire to sell.
Be highly motivated, self-directed, and customer-service oriented.
Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.
Demonstrate strong organization, planning, and prioritizing abilities.

Be able to lift, slide, carry, and lower packages typically weighing 25–50 pounds and sometimes up to 75 pounds.
Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam only).

Responsibilities

Support business-to-business sales and customer service activities.
Provide value to customers through a consultative sales approach.
Develop new relationships and grow existing ones through leads, referrals, and prospecting.
Coordinate resources to respond to customer service needs.
Make local sales calls by driving a company vehicle to customer sites.
Perform other duties as needed to ensure branch success.
