Full Time - Sales Associate - Outside Lawn & Garden - Opening
About The Position
The Sales Associate is a customer-facing role at Lowe’s, focused on welcoming shoppers and helping them find products and services for their home improvement needs. Associates listen to customers, answer questions, help locate and select merchandise, and support a positive shopping or checkout experience. They may occasionally load merchandise and organize or replenish products. Associates work in a department determined by hiring needs and skillsets. Possible departments include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, and Pro Services. Department-specific tasks may include tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. The role may involve cross-training in other store areas. Working conditions vary by location and may include indoor and outdoor work in changing weather and temperatures, exposure to noise and moving equipment, and prolonged standing, sitting, lifting, and other activities required to perform the job. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be necessary.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or lift more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
- Prepare merchandise according to customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Occasionally load merchandise.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
