About The Position

As a Sales Associate, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find the right products and solutions for their pets while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. This role suits someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment. The position is performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment and involves active engagement on the sales floor. Associates help customers, provide product and pet care information, cashier, support store operations and merchandising, and help ensure animals are cared for safely and responsibly. Flexible availability is required to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Passion for animals and an interest in pet care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in proximity to animals and exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
Flexible availability to support operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to perform frequent standing and walking, as well as bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.

Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
Share accurate product and pet care information to help customers make informed choices.
Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
Create positive shopping experiences that build trust and customer loyalty.
Assist customers in selecting products and services that meet their pets’ needs.
Educate customers about products, services, and promotions, and support store sales and service goals.
Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, organized, and visually appealing sales floor.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
Assist with store recovery, merchandising, promotional set-ups, and daily operational routines.
Collaborate with teammates and support store goals.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
