About The Position

The Sales Associate position is a part-time role based in the Algonquin Store. The primary responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, handling transactions, and maintaining the sales floor. This role involves direct interaction with customers and merchandise in a retail environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide high levels of customer service.
  • Ability to handle cash accurately.
  • Ability to count, add, and subtract.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules.
  • Must be able to operate a pricing gun and cash register.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Use of both hands.
  • Good manual and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to visually inspect and eliminate non-saleable donations.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Goodwill’s pricing structure.
  • Understanding of cash handling processes including cash drops, change requests, and drawer reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting customers upon arrival.
  • Handle cash transactions accurately, including ringing up merchandise, processing credit cards, and bagging items.
  • Assist customers with sales, including answering questions and walking them to products.
  • Communicate customer concerns and compliments to management.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and appealing checkout area.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks and putting away merchandise in its proper place.
  • Follow established safety rules and report any safety accidents or hazards.
  • Follow loss prevention procedures by reporting any potential losses.
  • Support the mission through customer participation in the round-up program.
  • Demonstrate regard for Goodwill’s assets, including property and equipment.
  • Create displays and end caps as directed by management.
  • Follow proper procedures for un-priced merchandise, returns, gift cards, vouchers, and discounts.
  • Understand and follow Kaizen standards.
